KARACHI: Social media across Pakistan and abroad erupted in excitement last evening after a trailer went viral purporting to show that Netflix was releasing a documentary on corruption in Pakistan and other countries, featuring members of Sharif family.

Titled ‘Behind Closed Doors’, people on different social media platforms rushed to share the trailer which not only had details about corruption at higher places, but showing images of Sharif family, leading many to believe that it was a documentary all about Sharif’s corruption in Pakistan.
Even some of the PTI leaders and supporters rushed to link the trailer with corruption committed by the Sharif family, after which it started making rounds and rounds on the internet.

However, some of the journalists and newsmen disagreed, saying that there was no official confirmation that the documentary would be released on Netflix. But none of them disagreed with the content displayed in the trailer.

A TV anchor, who had earlier posted the trailer with sarcastic remarks, had to give explanation that there was no official confirmation about the documentary being released on Netflix.

At one of the scene in the trailer, a TV anchor who recently had to leave Pakistan, was seen explaining as to how money laundering was committed by the Sharifs, and how the money was transferred from one account to another, from poor class workers to the accounts of Sharif.

Some users went on to say that the documentary also carried details about corruption committed by Asif Zardari and his party, the PPP. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen as to what actually the documentary would narrate unless and until it is officially released for public screening.
