Jio Hotstar on Monday released the first look teaser of the Hindi film “Sarzameen”, which stars Kajol, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan in lead roles. The film is directed by K.Y. Irani (son of Boman Irani) and will be released on the platform on July 25.
The script of “Sarzameen” is written by Somil Shukla and Arun Singh, while the dialogues are written by Kausar Munir and Jehan Hinda. The film is being produced by Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Adar Poonamwala and Apurva Mehta under the banner of Dharma Productions. Star Studios is also co-producing the film.
The teaser portrays Prithviraj as a dutiful but ruthless soldier, who is ready to go to any extent to eliminate terrorists in Kashmir. The film stars Ibrahim Ali Khan as a terrorist who is in a heated confrontation with Prithviraj. Kajol plays a wife who goes through tough times in her husband’s war on terror.
“Sarzameen” tells the story of an army officer who does everything possible to rid the Kashmir valley of terrorism. Breaking away from his traditional “soft image”, Ibrahim Ali Khan will be seen playing the role of a terrorist, while Kajol is likely to play the role of Prithviraj’s wife.
Does the film promote anti-Pakistan narrative?
The Sarzameen, which centers on the fight against terrorism, explores the complex issue from a different perspective rather than a direct conflict between India and Pakistan.
Set in Kashmir, the narrative is more broadly about the conflict in the region and human aspects of it. Although, the movie can be termed as a patriotic drama, but it does not inherently portray Pakistan is the adversary.
