A report regarding the appointment of the new Army Chief has stated that the government has decided to make new amendments to the Army Act, of 1952.
According to a TV report, under the amendment to be made in a clause of Section 176A, the word reappointment will be replaced with retain.
In 2020, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government amended the pre-appointment order on the orders of the Supreme Court when there was legal skepticism about the extension of the army chief.
It has been reported in the news that the amendments in the Army Act are now being looked at from different angles.

The Cabinet Committee on Legislation has proposed several amendments to the Army Act, of 1952. In the existing laws, the Prime Minister is obliged to send a summary of the appointment to the President for approval.
