ISLAMABAD: The project to import electricity to Pakistan from Iran will be inaugurated today, during which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi are expected to meet.
According to the details, PM Shehbaz Sharif and the Iranian president will meet at the Pak-Iran border where the project to import electricity from Iran will be inaugurated.
Two months ago today, Federal Energy Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan arrived in Iran where work was underway on the transmission line for Pakistan’s project to import 100 megawatts of electricity from Iran.
Dastgir said that the work on the transmission line will be completed in record time. We have come to talk with Iran regarding the progress of the Pak-Iran Power Project.
Meanwhile, Dastgir also addressed the Pakistan Day ceremony in Tehran. Apart from Iranian civil and military officials, diplomats also participated in the Pakistan Day ceremony.
Earlier, in anticipation of the success of the nuclear talks between Iran and America, Nepra had approved the agreement to import 1000 megawatts of electricity from Iran at 8 to 11 rupees per unit.
Approval was given two months ago. The state-owned National Transmission and Dispatch Company had sought approval to negotiate a contract. NTDC signed the MoU on 31 May 2012.
