ISLAMABAD: The International Left-handers Day is being observed across the world today.
The day is marked every year on 13th August 13 to raise awareness of the advantages and disadvantages of being left-handed in a predominantly right-handed world. The day was first observed in 1976 by Dean R Campbell, founder of the Lefthanders International, Inc.
There are some of the famous celebrities and renowned personalities who are left-handed:
Barack Obama, former US President.
Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft Corporation.
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO.
Prince William, Duke of Cambridge.
Angelina Jolie, Hollywood actress.
Lady Gaga, American singer.
Albert Einstein, a famous theoretical physicist.
Wasim Akram, Pakistani cricketer.
Amitabh Bachchan, Bollywood actor.
Sachin Tendulkar, Indian cricketer.
There are few facts about left-handers as well:
About 10 percent of the people worldwide are left-handers.
Left-handers use the right side of their brain more and thus, they are more inclined towards art and creativity.
Left-handed people are known to be smarter than right-handed people.
Left-handed people live nine years lesser than the right-handed people.
As per research, the connection between the left and right sides of the brain is better in left-handers.
Left-handers have better underwater vision than right-handers.
