RAWALPINDI: A 22-day-old infant has died allegedly after a botched circumcision operation by an inexperienced doctor at a local clinic.
The incident occurred in Tehsil Daultana where the infant Abuzar lost his life. The child’s father said he took his child to the nearby Sidra Medical Centre where Dr Sarfaraz performed the operation.
He said the when they returned home, they were shocked to see that the child was bleeding profusely. When they contacted the doctor, he told them to take the child to a private hospital. They rushed the child to the hospital where he received stitches and returned home.
The infant’s father said his son’s condition worsened overnight and he was taken back to the medical centre the next morning. Dr Sarfaraz advised them to take the child to Rawalpindi General Hospital but their child passed away on the way due to excessive bleeding.
When they contacted the doctor again, the child’s father said Dr Sarfaraz became enraged and threatened them. A complaint has been lodged at Daultana police station but a case has not been lodged. The man appealed for justice for his infant son.
