Following India’s military setback against Pakistan, Indian nationals residing in the United States are now facing heightened immigration enforcement. U.S. authorities have issued strict warnings to Indian citizens regarding visa overstays, stating that violators may face deportation.
According to official sources, the deportation of undocumented Indian nationals from the U.S. is underway, with the Trump-era policies being rigorously enforced.
The U.S. government has signaled a tougher stance, warning Indian immigrants that remaining in the country beyond the legally permitted duration could result in immediate expulsion and possibly a permanent ban on future entry.
The U.S. Embassy has emphasized that immigration laws will be strictly enforced, and overstaying a visa will not be tolerated. Violators may be subject to deportation and could be permanently barred from reentering the United States.
Currently, over 725,000 Indian nationals are living illegally in the U.S., and the number continues to rise. In 2023 alone, 51,000 Indians sought asylum in the U.S. — a 470% increase over the last five years.
Citing data, the U.S. Embassy noted that unemployment in India under Prime Minister Modi’s administration has reached alarming levels, hitting 5.1% in April 2025, with urban unemployment at 6.5%.
The embassy further stated that Indian youth have been the hardest hit by the unemployment crisis.
As a result, economic instability and lack of job opportunities are pushing a growing number of Indians to seek illegal migration to the U.S., raising serious concerns for immigration authorities.
