Anmol, a 1,500 kg buffalo from Indian, Haryana, has become a social media sensation and a symbol of prosperity in India’s animal husbandry industry. With a staggering Rs.23 crore price tag, Anmol is not just famous for his enormous size but also for his luxurious lifestyle and his significant role in the breeding industry, Hindustan Times reported on Saturday.
As per the report, at the heart of Anmol’s fame is his physical stature and gleaming appearance, which make him a near-perfect specimen for breeding. His semen is in high demand, making him an extremely valuable asset. The buffalo’s breeding potential has boosted his valuation, turning him into a rare commodity in the world of livestock.
Anmol’s Rs.23 crore valuation places him in a league of his own. To put this into perspective, his price tag is equivalent to two Rolls Royce cars, ten Mercedes Benz vehicles, or even a dozen luxury homes in Noida, one of India’s upscale neighborhoods. This valuation isn’t just about his size; it’s driven by the demand for his high-quality semen, which is used for breeding cattle across India.
The buffalo regularly graces prestigious events such as the Pushkar Mela and the All-India Farmers’ Fair in Meerut, where his imposing presence draws crowds of admirers. His sheen and perfect physique make him a symbol of pride in the animal husbandry community, not just in Haryana but across the country.
Anmol’s daily care comes at a significant cost. The buffalo’s diet is specially tailored to maintain his size and health, costing his owner approximately Rs.1,500 each day. His menu includes 250 grams of almonds, four kilograms of pomegranates, 30 bananas, 5 kilograms of milk, and 20 eggs. To enhance his growth, he is also fed oil cake, green fodder, ghee, soybeans, and corn.
In addition to his diet, Anmol enjoys two luxurious baths each day, where he is rubbed down with a mixture of almond and mustard oil to keep his coat glossy and his skin healthy.
Anmol’s value goes beyond his physical presence. His semen is a major source of revenue for his owner, Gill, who collects it twice a week. Each extraction, valued at Rs.250, can be used to breed up to 900 cattle, providing Gill with an income of nearly Rs.5 lakh a month.
Anmol’s mother was also a noteworthy buffalo, known for producing an impressive 25 liters of milk daily. Her legacy continues through Anmol, who has become one of the most prized animals in India’s livestock industry.
