Indian actor Vijay Deverakonda has come under fire for making highly controversial remarks against Pakistan, breaking what many are calling all previous records of inflammatory rhetoric by a public figure.
In a recent statement covered by Indian media, Deverakonda questioned Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir, saying, “Pakistan cannot even manage the part of Kashmir they control — what would they do here [in Indian-occupied Kashmir]?” The actor emphasized the importance of education in combating terrorism, asserting that educating young people to resist brainwashing is key.
“In Kashmir, part of the solution is to educate these young men so they are not brainwashed. What do they hope to achieve? Kashmir is part of India, and Kashmiris are ours,” Deverakonda said in both Telugu and English. Recalling a past film shoot in the region, he added, “Two years ago, I fired a gun for a scene while rafting in Kashmir. I have fond memories with the locals there.”
The actor then shifted his focus to Pakistan, making harsh remarks about the country’s economic and social struggles. “Pakistan can’t even take care of itself. They don’t have electricity or water, what are they trying to do here?” he said.

In remarks that many interpreted as excessive praise for the Modi government, Deverakonda claimed that India does not even need to take military action against Pakistan. “We don’t need to attack them. Their own people are fed up with the government. If this continues, they’ll attack their government.”
These comments come in the wake of heightened tensions following the recent attack in Pahalgam, after which many Indian celebrities have openly taken anti-Pakistan stances, equating them with patriotism.
