NEW DELHI: The Indian cricket team might travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023, reports emerged in Indian media on Friday quoting sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The Pakistan tour for next year’s Asia Cup is on the agenda of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ahead of Annual General Meeting (AGM) on October 18, according to a report published on Indian cricket website.
According to the report BCCI is willing to visit Pakistan for participating in the tournament. However, India’s visit will be subjected to the clearance of the government, a BCCI official told the publication.
As was done for this year’s Asia Cup, there is always the chance that the event will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but the BCCI communication appears to suggest otherwise, according to the report.
In 2023, Pakistan will host the 50-over Asia Cup before India hosts the ICC Cricket World Cup in October and November. The last time India travelled to Pakistan was in 2008 to take part in the Asia Cup.
On October 23, Pakistan and India will play each other in the T20 World Cup 2022 tournament opening at the venerable Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
