India bowled out Sri Lanka for just 55 in 19.2 overs after setting a massive 358-run target in the 33rd game of ICC World Cup 2023 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
Mohammed Shami bagged a fifer while Mohammed Siraj bagged three to give the hosts a win of 302-run margin. With this win, India have become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament.
Earlier, Virat Kohli missed out on equalling Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time record of 49 one-day international hundreds but still helped India to an imposing 357-8 against Sri Lanka.
Kohli made 88 while opener Shubman Gill hit 92 as India registered a seventh win in as many games and a guaranteed spot in the last four.
