India and Pakistan on Wednesday exchanged prisoners from the recent war between the two countries.
According to media reports, the exchange took place at the Attari-Wagah Border Post, where both sides handed over one soldier each.
As per security sources, Pakistan handed over Purnam Kumar Shah of the Indian Border Security to his country, while India handed over Muhammad Abdullah to Pakistan. Abullah belongs to the Pakistan Rangers.
According to security sources, the exchange took place under tight security arrangements with both countries handing over officials who had been in each other’s custody.
The circumstances under which the two individuals had crossed into each other’s territories remain unclear. However, officials confirmed that both sides had coordinated through diplomatic channels for their repatriation.
It should be noted that Indian and Pakistan announced a ceasefire on May 10 following a clash between the two countries. First, Indian attacked different cities of Pakistan, and then Pakistan retaliated and targeted 26 places in Indian.
