ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister Dr. Faisal Sultan has said that the number of covid patients could increase in the next few days.
Dr. Faisal Sultan said that despite the increase in the number of coronavirus cases due to the spread of the Omicron variant, people in Karachi are not being admitted to hospitals.
He said it was difficult to give immediate figures for the Omicron variant as the results came out in one to two weeks of hospitalization and also said that people should implement SOPs and get vaccinated as soon as possible.
The Sindh government has started considering other restrictions, including closing schools in several districts of the province and reducing business hours, following an increase in cases of coronavirus and Omicron variants.
With the coronavirus rate reaching 8.9 percent in Karachi, the government is also considering limiting business hours to curb the new type of outbreak.
On the other hand, according to the data released by the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), a total of 1,297,865 people were infected with coronavirus across the country while 28,945 people lost their lives to the virus.
