The Civil Society of Pakistan on Saturday held a rally in solidarity with Palestine in Karachi, calling an immediate ceasefire and urging the international community to hold Israel accountable for its crimes against humanity.
The marchers walked from Do Talwar to Teen Talwar expressing their support for the Palestinians people.
“We understand that this is not just a matter of religious difference, but rather utter destruction of humanity. Neither is this a ‘war’, but rather genocide. There are no symmetries that can be drawn between the oppressor and the oppressed to declare both as victims,” the Civil Society of Pakistan said its statement.
“We condemn the indiscriminate bombing of Gaza, targeting of civilians, and the calculated forced migration of Palestinians into a death trap as the escape routes are also bombed.”
The Civil Society urged all Nations, individually and collectively as the United Nations, as well as all World Organizations to call for an immediate ceasefire, and to uphold International Humanitarian Law and at the very least the Rules of War.
“As members of the Civil Society we recognize the intersectionality of violence and injustice. We also recognize the intersectionality of war crimes; violence against journalists, doctors and paramedics; violations of fundamental human rights irrespective of gender, race, and identity; and oppression in general when the oppressor, such as Israel, deems itself above the law. Similarly, we also uphold and recognize the rights of all people in Pakistan, and condemn any and all human rights violations faced by people in Pakistan,” they said.
Furthermore, we stand in solidarity with the oppressed, that is Palestine, and recognize that we cannot determine the means of resistance that the Palestinians choose. We recognize that Palestine has the right to determine the forms of resistance themselves.
