LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Saturday claimed that PTI Chairman Imran Khan had a complete plan to convert Pakistan into Sri Lanka and for this, he deliberately violated the pact with IMF.
Addressing party workers in the PP-167 constituency ahead of the by-poll, she said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) told the coalition government that it does not trust Pakistan because of the wrongdoings of Imran Khan.
She termed the agreement signed with the Fund by Imran Khan as a “bad deal”, adding that the former prime minister took a U-turn by breaching the clauses that Pakistan agreed with the global lender.
She reiterated that Imran Khan’s agreement with IMF was the cause of the fuel hike and said that they would have relieved people if Imran Khan had left something in the national exchequer.
Maryam claimed that PML-N supporters from a single constituency present in Green Town are more compared to the number of people at Imran Khan’s “historic rally” on the Parade ground in Islamabad. Khan and Maryam Nawaz were addressing their supporters in Islamabad and Lahore, simultaneously.
Maryam said that the coalition government had to make some decisions with a heavy heart, including increasing the prices of petroleum products, because of the wrongdoings of the PTI government.
“They [PTI] thought that Maryam would not come out to address public gatherings because of rising inflation, but I want to tell them that I stand with the people when times are tough,” she asserted
She claimed that the increase in fuel prices was extremely heartbreaking for Nawaz Sharif.
“Imran Khan keeps warning that the petrol price would rise further. Who else would know it other than the man who did the agreement?” she questioned.
The PML-N leader said that PM Shehbaz Sharif gave subsidies on flour, sugar, and lentils despite an empty treasury.
Maryam said that Nawaz Sharif got rid of inflation and load-shedding in the past, and they would do it again this time.
She said that Imran Khan stole the public’s mandate in 2018 and cleaned his hands on the treasury.
Maryam said Nawaz Sharif gave Orange Line to the people but Khan gave such ‘money line’ which went directly to Bani Gala”.
She claimed that Imran Khan’s wife Pinky’s son Ibrahim became a billionaire as he had a commission in every tender.
Maryam said that Imran Khan ran away with BMWs worth Rs150 million when he was ousted from the Prime Minister’s House.
The PML-N leader said her party would cope with the challenges as it knew in what circumstances it had taken the government.
“Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif will steer the country out of the crisis”, she said and adding that the government will decrease the price of petroleum products once the prices came down in the international market.
