Pakistan’s versatile all-rounder, Imad Wasim, has reversed his decision to retire from Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket, just in time for the upcoming World Cup this year. Imad revealed his change of heart through a statement posted on his official X account, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday.
In his statement, Imad expressed his joy in reconsidering his retirement after discussions with PCB officials and declared his readiness to serve Pakistan in the T20I format leading up to the ICC T20I World Cup 2024. He extended his gratitude to the PCB for their trust and pledged to dedicate himself to bringing honor to his country, emphasizing that Pakistan’s interests are his top priority.
Imad’s decision comes on the heels of his stellar performance in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine, where he captained Islamabad United to victory. Notably, he secured a historic five-wicket haul in the final against Multan Sultans, earning him the player of the match title as Islamabad United clinched their third PSL trophy. Additionally, Imad made PSL history by becoming the first player to win the Player-of-the-Match awards in all three playoff games.
It’s worth mentioning that Imad had previously announced his retirement from international cricket in November of the previous year.
