ISLAMABAD: A court on Sunday approved the one-day physical remand of Imaan Mazari and former MNA Ali Wazir and handed them over to police.
Imaan Mazari, the daughter of former PTI leader Shireen Mazari, was brought to the court of Judicial Magistrate Ehtisham Alam after she was arrested from her residence earlier today.
Imaan Mazari’s lawyer said his client’s house was raided by the police late at night and the door was broken at 3 AM. He said the police didn’t even allow her to wear her dupatta and change clothes.
The judge asked the police about the need for remand. The prosecutor said Imaan Mazari was present at the protest rally whose participants were stopped from going to Islamabad.
He said the rally participants move forward and blocked the GT road, shut down petrol pumps, and containers were placed to seal the road. He said Imaan Mazari was part of the armed group and women can also be handed over on physical remand.
Mazari’s lawyer said it is unbelievable that she tried to snatch the kit from the police authorities. He asked what police have done since taking Mazari into custody.
The court ordered the police to take away Ali Wazir and Imsn Mazari. Both left the court raising their fists in the air in a show of defiance.
An FIR was registered against Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) leader Manzoor Pashteen, Ali Wazir, Imaan Mazari and others at Tarnol police station. Â
According to the FIR, the offenses against the named persons include blocking road, breaking windows of vehicles, resisting the police and threatening them with dire consequences.
