ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Monday dismissed PTI petition seeking the removal of Nisar Durrani, one of the four members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The Islamabad High Court declared the petition inadmissible.
It should be noted that the ECP has four members from each province along with the chairman.
Earlier, PTI had filed the petition seeking removal of Nisar Durrani, an ECP member from the Sindh province.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah heard the arguments before dismissing the petition.
Justice Minallah stated that the ECP is a constitutional body, and that the Constitution outlines the procedure for expelling an ECP member during the hearing.
He questioned the PTI attorney about the procedure outlined in the constitution, and the attorney responded that an ECP member could be dismissed by the Supreme Judicial Council under the constitution.
The court will only follow the Constitution, the chief justice declared.
