ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad called on Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday and briefed him on the law and order situation in the federal capital.
IGP Islamabad Qazi Jameel-ur-Rehman and briefed him about the progress made so far in a case regarding harassment of a couple in E-11/2 sector of the federal capital.
According to the PM’s Office, the Inspector General is personally monitoring this case following the arrest of the accused persons. The prime minister was informed that all scientific resources are being utilised to collect more evidence in the case.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had taken notice of the incident and sought a comprehensive investigation into incident the sexual harassment, confinement and torture of a couple in Islamabad.
Police arrested a prime suspect Usman allegedly involved in forcefully filming a video of the couple in Islamabad and blackmailing. The arrest was made after a video of the incident went viral on social media and caused an uproar.
The incident reportedly occurred two months back, when Usman along with his other accomplices barged into a guest house and filmed a video of the couple. The suspect continued to blackmail them and demanded money in return and warned to make it viral in case of non-compliance.
Police took prompt action and arrested the suspect. A case was registered in the Golra police station on behalf of the state with Sub-Inspector Syed Asim Ghafar being the complainant. Officials said scores of similar videos were recovered from the mobile phones of the suspects and these were being examined to identify people who had been a victim of abuse.
