His letter to the Establishment Division surfaced hours after the federal government suspended CCPO Lahore for his alleged “failure” to protect Punjab’s Governor House. The establishment division of the government had issued a notification to suspend the 21-grade officer of the police service.
Writing to the Establishment Division, IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar cited ‘personal reasons’ for his desire to leave the current assignment. He requested that his services be withdrawn with immediate effects from the Government of Punjab and placed at the disposal of the federal government.
It is pertinent to mention here that the top brass of Punjab Police have been severely criticized to lodge an FIR into the assassination attempt on Chairman PTI Imran Khan as yet. The attack on the convoy of Imran Khan had taken place on Thursday evening, however, no FIR has been registered for reasons best know to the police themselves.
