The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the schedule for the ICC Women’s One Day World Cup 2025 as the tournament is set to begin on September 30 in Bengaluru, India.
As per the hybrid model agreement, matches between arch-rivals Pakistan and India have been scheduled while keeping in mind political sensitivities.
In line with this arrangement, the Pakistan women’s cricket team will play all its matches in Colombo, Sri Lanka, instead of India.
According to the released schedule, Pakistan will kick off their campaign against Bangladesh on October 2 in Colombo.
A total of 14 matches will be hosted across four venues — Bengaluru, Indore, Guwahati, and Colombo — with Colombo hosting Pakistan’s fixtures.
If Pakistan qualifies for the semi-finals, the match will also be played in Colombo, as confirmed by the organizers.
The venue for the final, however, will depend on Pakistan’s participation. If the Pakistan women’s team reaches the final, it could be held either in Colombo or Bengaluru.
The decision is to hold Pakistan’s matches in a neutral venue under the hybrid model is similar to previous arrangements made in men’s tournaments, aimed at ensuring participation while addressing cross-border political constraints.
The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 would see top international teams competing for the prestigious title.
