The final decision on the hosting and hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is expected to be made on Wednesday, according to sources.
According to a report by Pak Observer on Tuesday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is continuing to pressure the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding its demands for the tournament’s hosting and the adoption of the hybrid model. Reports indicate that there is a strong possibility the tournament will follow the hybrid model, which could be extended to all ICC events scheduled in India until 2027.
The PCB argued that India’s refusal to send its team to Pakistan over security concerns is unfounded and warned that if India maintains its stance, Pakistan will not participate in any ICC events held in India.
An informal agreement between the cricket boards of Pakistan and India suggests that the hybrid model will apply to upcoming ICC tournaments, including the Champions Trophy, Women’s World Cup, and the T20 World Cup 2026.
The PCB is also calling for the terms of the agreement regarding the Champions Trophy 2025 to be formally incorporated into the host agreement.
The details on the matter have not been revealed yet, but the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to be held in Pakistan in February and March. However, the final schedule remains uncertain due to India’s refusal to participate.
