In a major initiative to foster literacy and language learning among young students in Pakistan, HUM News, in collaboration with Nestlé NIDO, has officially launched the Nestlé NIDO HUM Spelling Whizz competition.
The announcement was made during an inauguration ceremony held at the HUM Network headquarters, where a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two organizations.
Spearheaded by “HUM in Education”, a HUM Network initiative focused on educational development, the project is designed and managed by the network’s Special Projects and Events team.
The nationwide competition will involve students from Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, as well as their parents and teachers, in a series of spelling contests intended to enhance language skills, build confidence, and cultivate a deeper love for learning.
As part of the collaboration, regional rounds of the competition will be held at HBL Auditoriums in the respective cities. The confirmed dates are:
Karachi: October 6–9 and October 11
Islamabad: October 14–15
Lahore: October 17–18 and October 20
This joint initiative reflects the shared mission of HUM News and Nestlé NIDO to strengthen the educational foundation of Pakistani children. By nurturing language proficiency and expressive abilities at an early stage, both organizations aim to empower a more informed, confident, and articulate generation.
The launch event was attended by a diverse group of dignitaries and journalists, including Fabrizio Bielli, Consul General of Italy in Karachi; Pawan Dhande, Acting British Deputy Head of Mission; and Rimsha Hussain, from the Social Culture Department at the Malaysian Consulate in Karachi.

The MoU was formally signed by Hassan Akbar on behalf of HUM Network and Affan Cheema representing Nestlé NIDO.
