Pakistanis are expected to enjoy a three-day holiday on Eidul Adha 2025 as the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has announced no Zilhajj moon sighting.
There has been no official notification issued by the Pakistan government but it is expected that Pakistanis will likely enjoy a three-day holiday from Friday (June 6) to Sunday (June 8).
A meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee was held in Islamabad on Tuesday (today) for sighting of the Zil Hajj moon 1446 Hijri to confirm the dates of Eid ul Adha this year.
Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad, chairman of the central committee presided over the meeting.
In a statement, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that the birth of the new moon occurred at 8:02am today, but with the moon being approximately 12 hours old by evening, the chances of sighting it were low.
Meanwhile, religious scholar Mufti Ramzan Sialvi confirmed that moon was not sighted in Lahore, adding that the final announcement regarding moon sighting would be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Similarly, zonal committee sources in Karachi said that no testimony of moon sighting was received from any part of Sindh.
