ISLAMABAD: It has been recently reported the illegal creation of housing societies were being constructed by seizing billions of rupees of forest land.
Despite several letters written to the Chief Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad for demarcation by the Forest Department, no action has been taken.
The Forest Department issued the first letter to the district administration officers on 12th January in which it requested action against illegal construction in the Lohi Bher area of Islamabad.
The petition stated that the Department of Forestry should be disposed of, while a letter of reminder was written on 10th February and the third letter was written on 20th February, but the district administration issued all three letters in the trash.
No response has been sent to the Forest Department. The forest department’s letters to the district administration stated that a female citizen had complained to the Prime Minister’s Portal.
The letter said that the report on the complaint was sent to the Prime Minister’s Office, but the district administration officials were reluctant to respond to the complaints coming to the Prime Minister’s portal.
According to sources, the housing societies that occupy the boundaries of Lohi Bheer include the Police Foundation, Pakistan Town, CBR Town and other private housing societies including Sawan Garden.
