Celebrities including Hollywood A-listers, influencers, and pop stars have been giving their opinions on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict after fighters from the besieged Gaza Strip shocked Israel with their unprecedented land, air and sea assault on Saturday.
While many celebrities, athletes, and musicians have received appreciation for their nuanced views on the conflict, Jamie Lee Curtis and Justin Bieber have come under fire for being “hypocrites.”
A photo of an Israeli flag with the tagline “Terror from the skies” was posted by Jamie Lee Curtis on Wednesday. She deleted the image after realizing it was actually of terror-struck Palestinians children, exposing her hypocrisy and showing the world that she only cares about Israeli kids.
Later, famous singer Justin Bieber posted a picture showing apocalyptic destruction on Instagram with the caption “Praying for Israel”. When people pointed out that it’s the destruction in Gaza caused by Israeli relentless bombardment, he deleted the story.
Here’s how netizens reacted to their hypocrisy;

Typical Hollywood selective “activism” followed by cowardice. Nice way to expose these frauds Mr. Kanthan. 👍🏾

We are familiar with it! It’s called Racism. Your sympathy for the victims is withdrawn when you identify that they are not your kind. You can attribute it to Xenophobia to water it down. It doesn’t cut ice here. We dealt with colonialism which too was racism here.

Popularity does not necessarily equate to intellectual prowess.

It wasn’t a mistake, it was intentional. Jamie lee Curtis did the same thing. All they need to do is upload it for a short while and allow it to circulate. It subconsciously makes the change. The real message behind the “mistake” is to tell people this is what’s going to happen…
