Renowned Pakistani musician Atif Aslam has made a comeback to Bollywood after a hiatus of seven years. However, the news of his return has triggered a response from Ameya Khopkar, an influential figure in the Indian film industry and the President of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) cinema wing.
In response to Aslam’s reappearance, Khopkar, also a producer, has been reported by various Indian media outlets, including India Today, issuing a stern warning. He emphasized that individuals contemplating the inclusion of Aslam in their films based on a court order should reconsider their decision and be aware of the consequences.
Khopkar declared, “Pakistani artists will not be tolerated here. Never. Unfortunately, we have to reiterate this, but let me be clear once more.” He went on to challenge Indian film industries, cautioning them against accepting the challenge of incorporating Pakistani artists in their projects.
In the face of this threat, social media users criticized Khopkar, accusing him of harboring a fear of a talented artist and pointing out what they perceived as double standards – opposing the presence of Pakistanis while still adopting their songs and content.
Despite the controversy, Atif Aslam has contributed his vocals to a romantic melody for the upcoming film ‘Love Story of the 90s.’ The producers, Haresh and Dharmesh Sangani expressed their delight in having him on board, describing it as a “moment of pride and joy.”
