MULTAN: Former provincial minister and former Member of National Assembly (MNA) Malik Ghulam Noor Rabbani Khar passed away on Monday.
He was the father of former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar and PPP MNA Malik Raza Rabbani Khar. Ghulam Muhammad Noor Rabbani Khar was suffering from kidney disease and he was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Lahore.
He was the brother of Ex-Governor Punjab Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar. His funeral prayers will be held in Kot Addu at Mauza Gharbi Sanawan.
Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi Monday expressed his condolence on the death of Malik Ghulam Noor Rabbani Khar. In his condolence message, the foreign minister expressed sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for the high ranks of the departed soul.
Ghulam Muhammad Noor Rabbani Khar was an MNA from September 2013 to May 2018. He was first elected as a member of the National Assembly from two constituencies, NA-137 and NA-138, in 1990 general elections.
He was re-elected for the second time in 1997 general election. He couldn’t contest the 2002 general election because he did not have an undergraduate degree as required.
He contested for the seat of National Assembly on a ticket of PPP from NA-177 (Muzaffargarh) in 2013 general election but was unsuccessful. He was re-elected in a by-elected after the seat become vacant after Jamshed Dasti left to retain his home constituency NA-178 (Muzaffargarh-III).
