Israel has claimed that it martyred the naval commander of Lebanon’s resistance organization Hezbollah in an airstrike.
According to a report by national media, citing foreign news agency, the Israeli military claimed on Tuesday that it had martyred Hezbollah’s naval commander, Khader Sayyed Hashem, during an airstrike in southern Lebanon.
In a statement, the Israeli military said that the Israeli Air Force martyred Khader Sayyed Hashem, the commander of the Lebanese armed group’s naval unit, near the town of Qana.
Israel alleged that Khader Sayyed Hashem was involved in activities that posed a threat to Israel and its citizens. The military further stated that Hashem was a member of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force and was also involved in maritime smuggling operations.
Meanwhile, Lebanon’s official National News Agency reported that an Israeli attack targeted a vehicle in the Tyre region of southern Lebanon, resulting in the death of one person.
Over the past year, Israel has targeted and eliminated numerous high-ranking commanders from both Hamas and Hezbollah in its military operations. Since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, Israel claims that approximately 18,000 Hamas fighters have been killed.
Among these were key figures such as Marwan Issa, Hamas’s third-in-command and deputy to military chief Mohammed Deif, along with brigade, battalion, and company commanders. Notably, six brigade commanders and more than 20 battalion commanders were eliminated.
Other high-profile Hamas figures killed include Ali Qadi, the leader of the Nakba Force responsible for the October 7 attack, and Merad Abu Merad, head of Hamas’s aerial system. These strikes aimed at crippling Hamas’s leadership and operational capabilities in Gaza.
