With year 2022 almost at its end, that means we are entering a new year and the first month of 2023 brings an exciting new slate of movies and shows that are making their way to Netflix.
So let’s have a look at the upcoming shows and series that are coming on Netflix in January 2023:
1) Kaleidoscope (January 1)
If you are heist series binge viewer, then Netflix has just released the official trailer for the new heist anthology series, Kaleidoscope.
Kaleidoscope follows a group of thieves who work together to break into an unbreakable vault to steal 7 billion dollars and pull off one of the biggest heists in history.
2) Mission Majnu (January 30)
Directed by Shantanu Bagchi, the 1970s-set film is set against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan war of 1971 and how a man on a covert operation on Pakistani soil turned the tide around.
3) Lady Voyeur (January 1)
In this steamy Brazilian drama, Miranda, a talented hacker with voyeuristic tendencies, keeps a watchful eye over her sex worker neighbour. But when this same neighbour makes a house call to Miranda with a simple request, the fate of this lady voyeur’s life is changed forever.
4) Trial By Fire (January 13)
Trial By Fire is a limited series based on the 1997 Uphaar Cinema fire in Delhi which claimed 59 lives, is the next Indian original series from Netflix.
Helmed by a stellar ensemble including Rajshri Deshpande, Abhay Deol, Rajesh Tailang, Ashish Vidyarthi, Anupam Kher, Ratna Pathak, Shilpa Shukla and Shardul Bharadwaj.
5) Shahmaran (January 20)
The name of the Turkish fantasy drama series ‘Shahmaran’ is basically in reference to a mythical creature called the “Shahmaran” who is a half snake and half woman. She lives in a cave and during the course of the story, she falls in love with a man in the classic Middle East historical story.
6) That 90’s Show (January 19)
The new series is set in 1995 and sees the daughter of Eric and Donna visiting her grandparents for the summer. She quickly makes friends (more on who these friends are below) with new kids living in Point Place, WI.
7) Women At War (January 19)
The synopsis of the series says, “France, 1914. As the German troops advance and men leave for the frontlines, four women must grapple with the devastating consequences of war at home.”
8) How I Became A Gangster (January 4)
Based on real events, this story is about Polish gangsters. An ambitious gangster works his way up the ranks of Warsaw’s criminal underworld, and ultimately takes his shot at the big time.
9) The Lying Life of Adults (January 4)
In 1990s Naples, a sheltered teen befriends the estranged aunt her parents detest to better understand herself and the city she comes from.
10) Jung_E (January 20)
Climate change has rendered the planet uninhabitable in the 22nd century. It forced humans to live within a man-made shelter. Within the shelter, a battle is raging. Jung Yi is the allied forces’ elite commander. She is subjected to a brain cloning experiment. The cloning experiment could be the key to winning the war.
