The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has imposed visa ban on Pakistani nationals citing concerns over criminal activities such as begging, forgery and other offenses as key reasons behind the restrictions.
This decision is expected to impact thousands of Pakistani laborers and professionals working in the UAE, as well as their families.
As per an official document shared by the Emirati government with the Pakistani embassy, the rationale for the ban, which was reportedly proposed during a cabinet meeting following numerous complaints regarding the conduct of some Pakistani citizens.
The document underlines evidence of activities such as begging, forgery of identity documents (including tampered identity cards and passports), theft, fraud, and drug-related offenses. These incidents were noted to be more prevalent among Pakistani nationals compared to individuals from other countries, contributing to a higher proportion of complaints against them.
Such actions have been deemed damaging to the UAE’s reputation, prompting the government to implement stricter measures.
