KARACHI: Heavy monsoon rain lashed several parts of Karachi on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, flooding the port city’s roads and low-lying areas as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast more torrential across the country over the next few days.
Last night, there were sporadic showers in a few different areas of the port city, including Saddar, I.I. Chundrigar Road, Baldia Town, Defence, and North Karachi.
It is important to note that the PMD predicted intense monsoon rains from August 1 to August 6 over the nation, with sporadic breaks.
Mithi, Sanghar, Mitayari, Nausheroferoz, Jamshoro, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Mirpur Khas, Khairpur, Thatta, Badin, Chhor, Padidan, Sajawal, Karachi, Hyderabad, Tando Allayar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Dadu are among the areas in Sindh that are expected to experience monsoon weather, according to the Met Office. From the evening of August 2 to the sixth, with sporadic gaps, heavy rain is predicted.
As per the weather forecasting department, Kashmir’s Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur are expected to witness rain wind/thundershower with few heavyfalls from the night of July 31 till August 6 with occasional gaps.
