KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) has extended the hearing of the petition filed against storing and increasing prices of sanitizer till 7th April.
SHC Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar conducted the hearing earlier today in which he heard the case based on hoarding in prices of sanitizers due to the coronavirus.
A petition was filed by Advocate Tariq Mansoor in which he requested the court that sanitizers have been saved in stock illegally and were being sold at expensive prices due to the coronavirus disease.
During the hearing, the judge assembled the officials of the Supply and Prices and directed the enforcement of the Sindh Registration of Godown Act 1995.
The judge remarked that the court should be informed about where the sanitizers were being stocked so the court can send the police there immediately for a raid. To which the counselor of the petitioner revert that the police have conducted raids over the hoarders.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) heard a petition on a shortage of sanitizers and surgical masks in the local markets due to the coronavirus disease.
A bench of the high court headed by Chief Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh ordered the government to submit a reply over its supply. The court had earlier issued a written interim order over a plea seeking control on a rapid increase in rates of surgical masks in ehich it sought reports from the federal and Punjab government over the shortage.
The nationwide tally of the coronavirus has risen to 237 after new cases were reported across the country today.
