The esteemed actress Abida Baig, renowned in the world of theater, finds herself grappling with financial challenges in the present times. MM News recently conducted an exclusive interview with Abida Baig, delving into her daily routines and interactions with fellow actors during her stage performances.
MM News: Do you harbor any regrets or resentments?
Abida Baig: No, there’s really no point. I solely rely on prayers to Allah and seek His assistance. Nobody can truly help you with everything. When Mirza Rashid Akhtar passed away, no one extended support to us, so why would anyone assist me now?
MM News: How long have you been involved in acting?
Abida Baig: I’ve been in the industry for 35 years. My first drama was with Amanullah, featuring artists such as Sheeba Hassan, Shabana Sheikh, and Najma Mehboob. Back then, there were no dedicated halls for performances. It was a different era.

MM News: How do people react when actors like you grace the stage?
Abida Baig: Even today, I work as much as four men. When I step onto the stage, I don’t let anyone overshadow me. Some people still attend the performances today. As the poet said:
“Nasir, my heart is sad
Why does the city scream?”
MM News: Have any fellow artists attempted to assist you?
Abida Baig: Sabir Ali Gaga reached out to me, inquiring about my well-being. These individuals have indeed offered their help, but I prefer not to be supported in that manner. Recently, Qaiser Pia also came to check on my well-being.
