A senior Pashtun Journalist, Hassan Khan, has claimed that the Taliban government in Afghanistan has officially handed over the famous Bagram Air Base to the United States, while the US has deployed its troops at the airbase located near the Afghan capital Kabul.
However, the Taliban government has issued a clarification on the news and rejected it.
According to Hassan Khan, the Taliban government and the US government have agreed upon an agreement under which the airbase has been handed over to the US while President Trump, in return, has restored the funding to the Taliban government, which he had stopped soon after taking the oath as President.
It should be noted that the former US administration used to provide the Taliban government $ 40 million weekly, however, Trump had stopped this funding to the Taliban.
Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid issued a clarification statement on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “We have repeatedly denied these rumors. The news circulating on social media regarding Bagram Air Base is completely false. The public should not listen to such false news.
However, sources reject the Taliban clarification and claim that the air base is now under the control of the US troops.
Nationalist group, particularly the Awami National Party( ANP), has also claimed that the Taliban has handed over the air base to the US.
It should be noted that Bagram Air Base has been the main base of US forces in Afghanistan for a long time; however, after the Taliban came to power, this base came under the control of the Afghan government.
