Haripur Uni Harassment Cases: One teacher dismissed, other’s case sent to FIA

KARACHI: The 26th meeting of Haripur University Syndicate was held in which important decisions were taken. Reports of both the cases of harassment were presented in the meeting on which the members of the Syndicate approved the dismissal of Dr. Mitiullah Jan and suspension of Dr. Amjad Khan. It has been decided to send the inquiry to FIA.

According to the spokesperson, the 26th meeting of Haripur University Syndicate was held on March 8, 2022. The meeting was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Anwarul Hassan Gilani (Hilal Imtiaz), while the participants included Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ayub Khan, Registrar Dr. Shah Masood Khan, Dean Prof. Abid Farid, Dean Prof. Amara Gul, Principal Government Post Graduate College Haripur. Sajjad Khan Principal Post Graduate College (Women) Haripur Dr. Nighat Shaheen, Chancellor / Governor’s Representative Prof. Manzoor Hussain Shah, Secretary Higher Education Representative Additional Secretary Wajid Ali Khan, Representative of Secretary Finance Adnan Farid, Secretary Establishment Deputy Secretary Syed Habib Al Hassan Gilani, HEC Representative Prof. Mahmudul Hassan Butt and elected members of the Syndicate Dr. Ali Raza Gormani, Assistant Professor Shujaat Qazi, Lecturer Hamid Ismat, Director Admin Major ( R) Muhammad Iqbal, Deputy Controller Asghar Ali, Assistant Director Admin Farooq Akbar, University Treasurer Muhammad Imran, Advisor Finance Akbar Khan.

The proceedings of the meeting were presented by the Registrar Dr. Shah Masood. A report on the implementation of the proceedings of the previous meeting was presented in the meeting. The agenda of the meeting included recommendations of the 10th Finance and Planning Committee and 16th Academic Council, Department Fund Policy, Guest House Policy, NOC Policy, Faculty Development Policy, Best Teacher and Best Researcher Award Policy, Transport Rules, Scholarship Policy, Financial Rules. , Endowment Fund Rules, Contract Employees Rules, Disability Resource Center, Professional Development Center and Counseling Center were approved.

In addition, cases of employees on leaves, annual increment of TTS Faculty, instructions of Governor regarding Section 11 and other important matters were also approved. Recommendations and reports of the Harassment Committee were presented as the most important point of the meeting. In it was decided with the approval of all the members that the inquiry of the first case has been completed due to which Dr. Mutiullah Jan, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, should be dismissed immediately as the allegations against him proved.

In the second case, the inquiry into the allegations of harassment against Dr. Amjad Khan, head of the Public Health and Nutrition Department, has not yet been completed, so in view of the victim student in another city, evidence of this allegation should be provided to the FIA and he was suspended from office. After which the notification to remove Dr. Amjad Khan from office and to remove Dr. Mutiullah Jan will be issued in a day or two.

The meeting also approved the annual performance report for the year 2021. Finally, Prof. Mahmoodul Hassan Butt termed the three-year tenure of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Anwar Gilani as a blessing for Haripur University. Registrar Shah Masood Khan’s three-year tenure was highlighted in the House, which included changes in the university’s deficit budget surplus budget, the appointment of international quality teachers and management on high merit, and launch of market-based sectors. Was appreciated by the participants.

Similarly, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ayub Khan on behalf of all the universities paid tributes to the Vice-Chancellor for his excellent performance in all the departments of the University. Dean Prof. Abid Farid on behalf of all the teaching cadres and Director The admin thanked him and described his services as a beacon for the university.
