A spokesman for former President Donald Trump has said Donald Trump Jr.’s account on X – the platform formerly known as Twitter – had been compromised after the account began sharing a series of unusual posts including announcing former president death.
In a string of now deleted posts, the account claimed his father had died and directed a racial slur at President Joe Biden.
The posts appeared to have been taken down later.
“Don’s account has been hacked,” Trump Jr.’s advisor Andrew Surabian wrote in an X post of his own.
The elder Trump is the front-runner in the 2024 Republican presidential nomination contest. Trump Jr., with his brother Eric Trump, runs the family’s company, the Trump Organization.
A spokesperson for Donald Trump, Andrew Surabian, tweeted Wednesday: “Don’s account has been hacked,” linking to a since-removed tweet.
FYI: This is obviously not true. Don’s account has been hacked. https://t.co/2ulyCPqhDx

This is not the first time high-profile accounts on the platform have been taken over. In 2020, for example, hackers gained control of accounts belonging to former President Barack Obama, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and others including Biden and Musk themselves by posing as Twitter’s IT support.
