LAHORE: Punjab information minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan has said that it was the government’s decision of not extending former premier Nawaz Sharif’s bail.
During a press conference, Fayyazul Hassan Chohan said that the decision to bring Nawaz Sharif back to Pakistan was mutually agreed upon by the Punjab cabinet.
Chohan further said that Nawaz Sharif has been staying in London on medical grounds and yet to be admitted to a healthcare facility.
Chohan added that Nawaz Sharif has been doing everything abroad except being treated.
Chohan has also claimed that Nawaz Sharif has met a Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) official at his residence in London.
“The government has given a letter to the UK authorities that Nawaz Sharif is an absconder of law and should be deported as soon as possible.”
The letter which is written by the foreign ministry on 3rd March on behalf of the government’s order stated that the bail period of Nawaz Sharif expired and he should be deported back to complete his sentence period.
The letter added that the former premier traveled abroad ion the medical grounds after being granted bail by the Lahore High Court. Since November, he has been staying in London, the letter added.
The Punjab government had already decided last week not to grant Nawaz Sharif further exemption. He was only given a 20-day bail in November since then he has not returned back to Pakistan yet.
