The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced plans to introduce “e-gates” at the country’s international airports, aimed at modernizing and expediting immigration procedures.
According to a CAA spokesperson, the e-gates will enable swift clearance in line with global standards.
Initially, the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, Islamabad International Airport, and Jinnah International Airport in Karachi will host these e-gates, as per the spokesperson.
Travelers will scan their passports at these e-gates, with the primary objectives being to reduce waiting times and enhance overall traveler experience. The CAA has invited technology companies to bid for installing these advanced gates, with a submission deadline of August 13.
Moreover, a team from the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) recently conducted a security assessment at Karachi and Islamabad airports. Led by Senior Director Mr. Abdullah Al Kaabi, the assessment covered various aviation security areas such as passenger and baggage screening, cargo, and catering security.
