ISLAMABAD: The federal government has stopped the implementation of the popular ‘Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar’ (MPMG) Scheme which was started during the tenure of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
According to the details, the federal government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has temporarily stopped the popular scheme. As p[er the officials, the purpose of stopping the scheme is to improve the objectives of the scheme under the changed circumstances.
Regarding the suspension of the housing scheme, the Finance Ministry said that the new scheme will be launched in a week. It should be noted that to help the scheme, the State Bank of Pakistan had taken several steps in the construction sector from July 2020.

According to the central bank statement, in March 2021, the government further expanded the features of the Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar scheme in the light of feedback and suggestions from the stakeholders.
Regarding the scheme, the State Bank of Pakistan further said that Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar was available in both traditional and Islamic forms and banks across the country provided loans to low to middle-income groups for the construction of houses at very low financing rates.
