ISLAMABAD: Over the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS) notified a decrease in the prices of 89 medicines,
Prime minister’s Special Assistant on Health, Dr Zafar Mirza, said the federal cabinet had decided to cut the prices of 89 pharmaceutical items by 15 percent. He said prices of several other life-saving medications have also been reduced.

The decision has now entered into force with the announcement that the drug prices under the Drug Regulatory Act Pakistan (DRAP) have been lowered.
Prime Minister Imran Khan instructed the federal cabinet that the decision should be implemented immediately and directed to take strict action against those taking more than the fixed prices.
Earlier on January 1, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health, Dr. Zafar Mirza, said that the healthcare goals of 2020 set by the government including, polio eradication, disposal syringes and issuance of health insurance cards.
According to a statement, Dr Zafar said the state was facing severe issues in social sectors due to economic scarcity in 2019 however; the federal government is taking solid measures according to its healthcare vision.
