ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Farrukh Habib says government is taking concrete measures to control the inflation on sustainable basis.
Addressing a joint news conference flanked by spokesperson of the Finance Ministry Muzammil Aslam in Islamabad today [Wednesday], he said the government has reduced taxes and duties on import of various essential items to lessen the burden on poor segments of society.
The Minister said, according to latest data, entire world has witnessed record inflation due to Covid-19 that has affected the life in the worst manner.
He said the government bore the burden of more than 400 billion rupees in shape of tax reduction on Petroleum products.
The Minister said due to timely action against hoarders, prices of sugar have been reduced while prices of flour are stable now.
Speaking on the occasion, Muzammil Aslam expressed satisfaction that inflation rate of perishable items in Pakistan has been reduced to 3.5 per cent.
