ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to PM on Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan assured that the government has taken every possible step to eradicate polio from the country.
In a tweet, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan posted that the polio vaccination would guarantee a healthy Pakistan.
Awan in this regard urged people to play their role in eradicating polio by fully supporting the campaign.
In a tweet, Awan wrote, “In order to get rid of this virus, it is essential that children are administered polio vaccination. In this regard, more awareness is being created amongst the masses.”

She also appreciated polio workers who have been fulfilling their duties despite being the victim at the hands of extremists.
Earlier on Friday, Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated the national anti-polio drive of winter months in Islamabad by administering anti-polio drops to small children.
Addressing the ceremony, the prime minister said that 40 million children under five years of age will be administered anti-polio drops by 260,000 polio staff during the campaign.
He said that Pakistan was among the very few countries that still have traces of polio, despite numerous successes administered by polio staff.
Pakistan is among the three countries in the world, including Afghanistan and Nigeria, where poliovirus still exists.
