RAWALPINDI: The elected representative of Rawalpindi’s Union Council (UC) 31 is allegedly squandering the government funds by developing redundant projects.
According to details, the elected representative, Raja Rashid, has started constructing an unnecessary nullah for the area, for which substandard construction material is being used.
The residents have informed that the basic needs of the people could not be addressed. They informed that along with gas, clean drinking water is not available in the area. “The elected representative does not pay attention to such issues,” they added.
The locals further informed that the previously constructed storm drains have not been cleaned yet during the rainy season, causing flooding in the area.
They also informed that an order was passed to install 4-inch high-quality water pipes in the area, which are being replaced by 3-inch faulty material pipes.
The residents of the area have appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar and the concerned authorities to take notice of the issue and the funds should be used in a transparent manner. “A committee consisting of government and opposition members should be formed to oversee development works in the area,” they added.
