The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved a comprehensive life insurance program aimed at providing financial relief to families following the death of a household’s primary earner.
According to Information Advisor Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, the scheme will cost the provincial government Rs4.5 billion annually.
Under the initiative, immediate financial assistance will be extended to the deceased’s family. Families of individuals under the age of 60 will receive Rs1 million, while those of individuals aged 60 and above will be granted Rs5 million.
Barrister Saif said that the loss of a breadwinner often plunges families into severe financial distress, compounding emotional grief with economic uncertainty. He emphasized that this program is designed to ease that burden and ensure a measure of stability for affected households.
He further said that the initiative reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to public welfare and social protection, particularly in times of personal crisis.
