Good news for top-performing students as the federal government has announced free electric bikes for students with exceptional grades across Pakistan including the Federal Board, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Friday.
Under this scheme, economically disadvantaged individuals will be provided with electric rickshaws and loaders to create employment opportunities and reduce reliance on imported fuel.
In this regard, the government reportedly is formulating a comprehensive plan to offer affordable electric vehicles to the public through subsidized loans. Over 100,000 electric bikes and 300,000 loaders will be distributed on easy terms.
The Prime Minister has directed that 25 percent of the total quota under the electric vehicle scheme be reserved for women, and that provinces be allocated shares based on their population proportions.
He also instructed that Balochistan’s share be increased to 10 percent.
The government is taking steps to establish a complete system for the production and maintenance of electric vehicles.
The Prime Minister emphasized that electric bikes, rickshaws, and loaders distributed under the scheme must meet safety and quality standards.
