The government has proposed a 10 percent increase in the salaries of government employees and a 7 percent increase in the pensions in the budget for 2025-26.
As per details, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb presented the federal budget for 2025-26 in the National Assembly on Tuesday evening. The total volume of the budget is Rs 6,501 billion, with a total deficit of Rs 17,573 billion.
In his budget speech, Aurangzeb proposed a 10 percent increase in salaries of government employees and a 7 percent increase in pensions of retired employees. A significant reduction in income tax rates has been proposed for all income slabs for the salaried class.
It is proposed to provide a 30 percent disparity allowance to employees in grades one to sixteen, while it is proposed to reduce the income tax rate from five percent to one percent for the salaried class with an annual income of Rs 600,000 to Rs 1.2 million.
The Finance Minister said that this budget is being presented in extraordinary circumstances when the nation has shown great solidarity. The unity of the nation against India will be remembered forever.
