Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori has announced that he will provide residential plots to the families of the Karachi citizens who were killed in traffic accidents during the last two months.
Addressing a press conference at the Governor House in Karachi, he said that if he had the power, he would not have allowed anyone to be hit by heavy traffic. He promised to provide financial assistance to the families of those killed in dumpers, trailers, and trucks accidents during the last two months and said that there is no substitute for loss of life, but financial assistance can heal their wounds.
The Governor said that he had written a letter to the Sindh Chief Minister demanding the formation of a commission to investigate heavy traffic accidents, but did not receive any response.
He said that he can write a letter, seek answers and monitor the situation, but cannot do anything more, however, if the DIG Traffic does not take action himself, he will be forced to intervene.
Tessori announced the establishment of a complaint cell at the Governor House to deal with the drug problem in the province. Referring to the Mustafa Amir murder case, he said that this is a golden opportunity to eradicate drugs.
The Sindh Governor announced the allocation of plots through lottery for homeless people.
He also announced the opening of the doors of the Governor House to the public under the “Ittehad Ramadan Program”, where 1 million people are expected to break their fast. He invited the public to register for this program.
During Ramadan, iftar, dinner, Taraweeh prayers, Naat Khawani and Qawwali sessions will also be held at the Governor House, the governor concluded.
