THATTA: Governor Sindh Imran Ismail has reviewed the lockdown situation in Thatta during his one-day visit to the city.
The governor who reached Thatta today reviewed the quarantine centre established for COVID-19 patients. He also visited the Ehsaas Kafalat programme center in Makli to monitor arrangements.
Imran Ismail also ordered authorities to maintain social distancing within the needy families coming to receive cash or ration distribution. The visit comes after it was revealed that the district administration of Thatta had distributed expired ration among needy people.
The district administration had been distributing expired ration bags in Thatta in an attempt to provide food to the poor and needy amid the coronavirus lockdown. The bags had expiry dates of 2004 and 2005 printed on them. More than 3,000 of these expired ration bags had been distributed.
On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner Thatta claimed that the packaging was old but the rations inside were fresh. “The supplies are fine, they had just been transferred into old bags,” he said.
Moreover, the supply of the remaining 2,000 bags that were supposed to be given was immediately halted.
