KARACHI: Governor Sindh Imran Ismail has submitted his resignation from his post, saying he does not accept Shehbaz Sharif as the prime minister.
“I refuse to work for culprits who are the subject of an ongoing federal investigation on account of serious charges of corruption and financial misconduct of billions of Rupees,” Ismail said in a tweet, saying he has sent his resignation to President Arif Alvi.
In his resignation letter, Ismail said he is stepping down after “abject failure of state institutions to take due notice of the facts and documentary evidences of the letter gate scandal and the foreign sponsored conspiracy to remove Mr Imran Khan” and “installing instead a person facing serious charge of corruption.”
“I write to inform you that my conscience does not permit me to accord protocol to such a person in my capacity as the Governor of the Great province of Sindh, which was the first to adopt the Pakistan Resolution.”
Imran Ismail added that “holding this office any further shall be a violation of my self respect and of the sacred trust reposed in me by my leader.”
Therefore, he announced to tender is resignation with immediate effect and with “absolute conviction that no one shall be able to stop Pakistan from reaching its full protentional to represent the true essence of a progressive Islamic state and claim its rightful place in the the comity of civilized nations.

Earlier, Sindh Governor Imran Ismai said that he cannot say “sir” to Shahbaz Sharif, who has been elected unopposed 23rd prime minister of Pakistan and will announce his resignation
While levelling corruption allegations on the PML-N president, the governor said that he is an “incompetent person” and he does not accept him as the prime minister. Ismail said that he has started packing and would leave the Governor’s House in a day or two.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also announced to quit, saying he can not give protocol to Shehbaz Sharif.
